Boston plays a pivotal part in the history of the United States. In 1630, colonists from England established Boston. The American Revolution was born in Boston and the patriots of this land drove the British from the city on March 17, 1776. Even though the ravaged economy caused by the conflict drove the population to drop by two-thirds in the 1770's, Boston rebounded and has become one of the great cities of America. The famous Freedom Trail is a 2.5 mile red-brick trail through Boston’s historic neighborhoods that tells the story of the American Revolution. From the Old North Church to Faneuil Hall and through resonant burying grounds, your Educational Destinations adventure will be complete with temples and landmarks of the Revolutionary Era.
