Expanding Global Opportunities: Exploring Educational Travel in China

Educational Destinations Travel Designer Mary Godley shares her recent experience exploring exciting educational travel opportunities throughout China.

I had the immense joy and honor to join an eight-night professional tour in China with the Student Youth Travel Association and the Chinese National Tourist Office of New York. Our mission was to explore student educational tourism.

The itinerary highlighted the historical might of Beijing and Xi’an, the balance of Hangzhou – both poetic and forward thinking – and the futuristic pulse of Shanghai.

This was learning in its most vibrant form. We exchanged cultures directly with peers, sharing family-style meals that delighted with both familiar noodle and dumpling dishes and new, exciting flavors.

We traced history at the Great Wall and Terracotta Warriors, then rolled up our sleeves for a hands-on Shanghai dumpling class. At every step, our exceptional guides ensured we felt safe, cared for and engaged in unique educational opportunities.

China consistently revealed itself as safe, well-organized and supported by world-class infrastructure. These conditions make it an ideal destination for student travel programs across themes such as history, culinary studies, photography, cultural immersion, technology, STEM, arts, music and global commerce.

Together, these experiences highlight how a thoughtfully designed China program can meet academic goals while inspiring curiosity, confidence and global awareness in students.

Let’s bring your students to experience this incredible blend of ancient heritage and modern dynamism, where lessons come alive and global perspectives bloom.
