In September 2026, Roosevelt Middle School students from Indiana traveled to Washington, D.C.<\/a>, for an educational experience centered on American history, government, science and culture. The itinerary combined iconic landmarks with museum visits and opportunities for memorable shared experiences.<\/p>\n

Exploring the Institutions of American Government<\/strong><\/h3>\n

A visit to the White House offered students an opportunity to connect classroom discussions about the executive branch with the home and workplace of the U.S. president.<\/p>\n

The group also toured the U.S. Capitol. As the home of Congress, the Capitol provided a setting for exploring how laws are made and how the legislative branch functions.<\/p>\n

The itinerary also included the National Archives, where students explored the importance of preserving historical records and the founding documents of the United States.<\/p>\n

Roosevelt Middle School students visited several of Washington\u2019s leading museums. At the National Air and Space Museum<\/a>, students could explore the history of aviation and space exploration. Exhibits featuring aircraft, spacecraft and scientific achievements connected science and technology lessons with real-world discoveries.<\/p>\n

The National Gallery of Art<\/a> added an artistic perspective to the trip, where the group encountered works from different periods and traditions.<\/p>\n

The trip also included the Smithsonian\u2019s National Museum of American History<\/a> and National Museum of Natural History<\/a>. These museums provide complementary learning experiences, from exploring the nation\u2019s social and cultural development to examining biodiversity, geology and the natural world.<\/p>\n
