In March 2026, students from North East School of the Arts (TX) traveled to London for a week-long educational trip centered on musical theatre and the performing arts. The itinerary combined historic landmarks, backstage workshops, guided city tours and three live theatre performances, giving students the chance to connect their classroom training to real-world professional practice.<\/p>\n

A Royal Introduction: Windsor Castle<\/h3>\n

The trip began with a visit to Windsor Castle, one of the world’s oldest and largest occupied castles and a working royal residence for more than 900 years. Touring the state apartments and grounds gave students an early look at British history and tradition before the group settled into London for the week.<\/p>\n

That evening, the group gathered for dinner at Founders Arms along the Thames, taking in views of the river and St. Paul’s Cathedral as they adjusted to the city that would serve as their classroom for the next several days.<\/p>\n

Theatre Immersion at the National Theatre and West End<\/h3>\n

The following morning brought students to the National Theatre, one of the United Kingdom’s leading performing arts institutions. There, students explored how a major repertory theatre operates behind the scenes, from production design to the daily demands of staging multiple shows.<\/p>\n

A guided city tour followed, taking students through central London’s most recognizable landmarks and giving context to the history embedded in the city’s streets and architecture. After dinner at Sarastro Restaurant, known for its theatrical decor and operatic atmosphere, the group attended a performance of “Stranger Things: The First Shadow” in the West End, connecting the day’s backstage lessons to a live professional production.<\/p>\n

After dinner at The Real Greek, students attended a performance of “Hercules” in the West End, closing another full day of theatre history and live performance.<\/p>\n

On the final full day in London, students toured Warner Bros. Studio Tour London, The Making of Harry Potter, exploring the sets, costumes and special effects behind the film franchise. The visit offered a different angle on production and design, showing students how storytelling techniques translate from stage to screen.<\/p>\n

A theatre walking tour and dinner at The Old Thames Inn rounded out the group’s time in London before an early departure the next morning.<\/p>\n
